Mrs Lighty’s Liked and Loved: May 2017

Here we are again at the end of another month, and here we are again with some tragic news just behind us. Just as in my March Liked and Loved, the events in Manchester have shocked me yet again. This time it feels a little bit worse in some ways, with an event which would have had many young families in attendance having been targeted. My thoughts go out to all of those affected, and I hope that there is enough love in this country to move forward. As I said to Mr Lighty, the one thing we have going for us is that if anyone tries to pull us apart as a nation, we stand stronger together as one!

Liked and Loved is all about those little moments – and the slightly bigger ones – that let us see the positive in any given month. I love that about this series, started originally by Stevie of A Cornish Mum, because sometimes it’s hard to see the good in an otherwise sea of difficult times.

When I sat down to write May’s Liked and Loved, my first thought was that this month had been really rather quiet. And in some ways it has been. We may have had fewer social engagements, but it’s still been busy, busy, busy. We’ve also had some incredible highs and made some great memories this month! So without further ado, these are the things that I’ve liked and loved in May:

The Wedding of the Year!

I mentioned back in my April Liked and Loved that I’d been on then Sister-in-Law Lighty’s hen do. Well May saw her become Sister-in-Law Browny! We had so much fun at the wedding. Baby Lighty definitely loved it, and was a little character the whole day long. Apart from anything else, it was soooo lovely to catch up with Mr Lighty’s extended family. We don’t see them too often, but when we do, we do it in style!

The Essex Digital Awards!

So. I’m not sure that this is just going to be a highlight of this month. I think it might be a highlight of this year! A week and a bit on, as I type this, I can’t quite believe that I’m able to say that I am the silver winner in the ‘Blog: Entertainment’ category at The Essex Digital Awards! The fact that I’m grinning like a Cheshire cat in every single photo taken of me after I’d been given the award probably says it all!

It was totally, totally unexpected but very much appreciated. It seems remarkable that nearly two years ago, I started writing down some of my ramblings, and now I’m being given awards for what I’ve written! Definitely something I’ve liked and loved this month. Definitely something I’ve liked and loved and can’t quite believe this year!!

Hyde Hall Gardens

We’d been hearing good things about our local RHS gardens for a while now, but hadn’t actually been. So it was lovely to have a spontaneous little trip to Hyde Hall Gardens over the bank holiday weekend. We went with Mr and Mrs Lighty Senior, as well as our niece, who is six weeks older than Baby Lighty.  The weather was absolutely beautiful for our visit and we had a lovely time wandering the grounds. We did comment at one point however that this is what it would be like to have twins! Usually said as one toddler went one way and the other went the other way!

Oh I do like to be beside the Seaside…

If you read my Liked and Loved posts regularly, you may spot seaside trips as a common theme. To be honest, Mr Lighty and I do love to be by the coast, so we’ll take any opportunity to spread our wings and head to the beach. But this month we have tried something a little different: a trip to one of Millie’s Beach Huts. We were the first guests at Vicky’s new hut in Felixstowe, and we were blown away by it! The attention to detail is amazing and we had such a fantastic day. A full review will be on the blog shortly! Definitely something that we’ve liked and loved this month!

And just like that, that’s May done and dusted. I’m looking forward to June, especially as it’s Baby Lighty’s birthday early in the month. I can’t believe my baby boy is going to be two! Tune in to next month’s Liked and Loved to see how we get on with the celebrations!

Disclaimer: Please note, we were invited as guests to Millie’s Beach Huts in return for an honest review. All opinions expressed here and in my review post are my own.
